Aligned Within · Values wheel

Where am I living my values?

A lopsided wheel is not a problem. It's a map of where to begin.

Your values are what matter most to you. Things like peace, freedom, family or honesty. When your days match them, life feels like yours. When they don't, you feel it… even if you can't quite name it yet.

This wheel helps you see where your values are lived and where they are waiting for you. It takes about 10 minutes. Find a quiet spot, make a cup of tea, and let's begin.

Your scores and values stay in this browser on this device. Nobody else sees them. Not even me. The only things sent to me are an anonymous count of visits, and your star rating if you choose to leave one.

An example wheel. Yours will have its own shape.

How to use your wheel

  1. Clear the example. The wheel opens with made-up scores so you can see how it works. Press Start my wheel below and every area resets to 5.
  2. Choose your eight areas. There are ten areas of life to pick from. Tick the eight that matter most in this season of your life. You can swap one for another any time, and your scores are kept.
  3. Go through your eight areas, one at a time. You'll find them further down the page. Read the short line under each name so you know what it covers.
  4. Move the first slider: how satisfied am I in this area of my life? Your satisfaction is a clue. When you feel satisfied in an area, your values are being met there. When you feel flat, frustrated or restless, a value is usually being missed. So a high score means your values are lived here, and a low score shows you where they're not. 0 means not satisfied at all. 5 means some days, yes, some days, no. 10 means fully satisfied, most of the time.
  5. Move the second slider: how much does this area matter to me right now? This is about this season of your life, not forever. It's OK if some areas matter less right now.
  6. Pick the energy. Does this area give you energy, feel steady, or drain you? Go with your first feeling.
  7. Choose up to five values for each area. Which values do you want to live more of there? Tap any of the five ideas, or type your own word and press Add. Tap a value again to take it off. Choose what feels true, even if it's only one.
  8. Read your wheel. The purple shape is your satisfaction, so it shows how well your values are being met in each area right now. The dashed line is how much it matters. The space between them is where to look.
  9. Read "Where to begin". The wheel picks the two areas asking for your attention most, and gives you a question for each. Sit with the question. Write down what comes.
  10. Read your results. At the bottom of the page you'll find an overview of your whole wheel, including your top five values. These are the values that showed up across the most areas. A value that keeps showing up is often a core value.
  11. Save it. There are two ways, both under your results.
Copy my wheel copies your scores, your values and your results as plain text. Then paste them anywhere you keep notes: a Word document, the Notes app on your phone, an email to yourself, or a WhatsApp message to yourself or to a friend you trust. To paste on a computer, click where you want it and press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). On a phone, press and hold where you want it, then tap Paste.
Print my wheel gives you a tidy printout with your wheel, where to begin, your results and your scores. Print it on paper, or choose "Save as PDF" as the printer to keep a copy on your device.
Then come back in three months and notice what moved.

Choose your eight areas

Which eight feel most alive for you right now? Tick them. If an area doesn't fit your life at the moment, leave it out. That's not a failure… it's just this season.
